Chicago’s finest long-form improv ensembles will be coming to Raleigh in April. The I3 Improv Invitational Festival, invites some of the best and most innovative performers on the Chicago improv scene to perform with some of North Carolina’s best. The festival begins at ComedyWorx in Raleigh on a weekend that will be announced soon, with performances occurring on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., 10 p.m and 11:45 p.m.

The Break Room (Raleigh) - Comprised of The Worx Training Center longform improv students. The form is devoted to indepth character exploration.

Rhinosaurus Rex (Chicago) - Rhinosaurus Rex is a high-energy, unique approach to long-form comedy. Using a pre-determined concept and developed characters this musical ensemble improvises complicated relationships and creates risky, high-drama situations in a fast-paced new form.

Temporary Tag (Raleigh) - Temporary Tag is an iO South graduate improv team created by iO South instructor Dan Sipp. It's a Harold team of epic proportions--quick witted, magestic and bold--that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.

This Broom's Lost its Handle (Chicago) - This Broom's Lost its Handle, a team comprised of recent iO graduates, is a really fun team full of off-the-wall comedy! They use sensory-exploration to heighten and build intricate, environmentally informed relationships and worlds. Energetic, colorful scenes are rife with unpredictable twists and fast-paced witty banter in This Broom's Lost its Handle!!

Antitrust Ice Cream (Raleigh) - Each Antitrust Ice Cream show starts with spirited conversation and creates a connected world of characters with a modicrum of insanity and a bunch of fun. AIC performs regularly at ComedyWorx in Raleigh.

Counter-Productive Lover (Chicago) - Spawned from the nurturing womb of the Chemically Imbalanced Comedy Theater, Counter Productive Lover is a long form improvisational group that is sick of lies. They are the newest legion of truth added to the theater’s lineup in it’s quest for truth, via justice. Their minds are so rich and girthy, you could practically hang a wet coat off of them for a day or two and they wouldn’t even notice.

The Late Van (Chicago) - Made up of performers from every walk of life and every stage in Chicago, The Late Van is brought together by their love of improv and their passion for performing together. Every member of the team exemplifies a different style of play, which is why they love to play together. They try to have as much fun on stage as possible, each in their own way, and they are excited to perform on the ComedyWorx stage, where they hope the audience will enjoy the show as much as they do.

Danny Canoe (Raleigh) - Danny Canoe is a brand new team of players who have improvised together for years. Based in North Carolina, Danny Canoe discovered a mutual love of scenes that swing wildly from silliness to social commentary and from realism to the cartoonish. Shows feature scenes that shift rapidly from character to character, in and out of strange situations, and more.

K.C. Redheart (Chicago) - K.C. Redheart is an improbability. A very fortunate coincidence. Total strangers, thrust together by fate, yet sharing the same comedic sensibilities and the goal of creating a beautiful comedic union whose sum is greater than its parts. Improvising comedic theater from the bottom of their hearts, K.C. Redheart hopes to fill your soul with joy.

Hotel Principality (Raleigh) - Check in and experience the greatest story never told. With one suggestion from the audience, Hotel Principality will create an original improvised musical theater experience. The characters are extreme and rich in diversity. Pudding-Thank-you (Chicago) - Pudding-Thank-You has been improvising together since 2007. It consists of four performers with completely different styles, but who have the same penchant for physical, smart, yet silly comedy. They regularly improvise around Chicago, and have made appearances across the country.
